Back in 2022, we featured Growing Beds Recycling Services (GBRS) and their new Doppstadt Inventhor 9 slow-speed shredder. However, due to evolving demands, the company has since switched to an AK 565 high-speed shredder and invested in a new Powerscreen Titan 2300 scalping screener.
GBRS is a leading recycling centre located in the heart of Bedfordshire. Since 2002, their private organic waste recycling and biomass centre has prided itself on delivering the highest-quality garden waste and wood waste disposal services and recycling solutions to local authorities, organisations and individuals.
Due to an influx of green waste last year, GBRS determined that a high-speed shredder would better meet their needs. This led to the purchase of the Doppstadt AK 565K, supplied by Blue Machinery (Central) Ltd. The AK 565K, known for its powerful engine and high throughput, features a heavy-duty rotor with free-swinging tools that ensure consistent and reliable shredding performance. Its advanced technology offers precise control over material size, making it suitable for various recycling applications. With user-friendly controls and maintenance-friendly design, the AK 565K enhances operational efficiency and reduces downtime. This shredder is celebrated for its durability, versatility, and high productivity, making it a top choice for recycling and waste management professionals.
Tom Bliss, Operations and Sales Manager at GBRS, commented on the new AK 565K, stating, “The smaller final product size on the AK 565K has helped us to decrease the size of our windrows and reduce the amount of compost oversize coming out of the static trommel system.”
In response to increased demand for their topsoil product, GBRS also invested in a Powerscreen Titan 2300 scalping screener. The Titan 2300 is designed to deliver high productivity and exceptional screening capabilities in a variety of applications, including recycling, quarrying, and mining. This versatile screener features a robust, heavy-duty design, ensuring durability and reliable performance even in the toughest environments. The Titan 2300 is equipped with a large screening area and adjustable screen angles, which provide flexibility and efficiency in material separation.

GBRS has maintained a strong partnership with Blue Machinery for around 15 years. Tom Bliss remarked, “Whether it’s parts, servicing, or an upgrade of a machine, it’s never too much for the guys at Blue. We are constantly trying to expand our business, and by leaning on our strong partnerships, like the one we have with Blue Machinery, we will achieve that.”
